Our industrial plastic AODD pumps are engineered for safe, leak-free transfer of aggressive chemicals, acids, and high-purity fluids. Utilizing compressed air as the power source, these pumps eliminate mechanical seals and rotating parts, preventing fluid shear and allowing safe operation against closed discharge valves.
Operating Principle
Compressed air is directed alternately by an internal air-distribution valve to the back of each diaphragm. The reciprocating motion forces fluid from one liquid chamber while simultaneously refilling the opposite chamber. This dual-diaphragm design ensures a smooth, continuous flow pattern and equalized internal pressures.
Core Engineering Advantages
• Zero Dynamic Seals: Eliminates mechanical seal failures and hazardous chemical leakage risks.
• Run-Dry Capability: Operates dry without damage to internal components or pump seizure.
• Dead-Head Protection: Automatically stalls against closed discharge lines without pressure buildup or thermal overload, restarting instantly when flow opens.
• Shear-Sensitive Fluid Handling: Low internal velocity protects polymers, slurries, and shear-sensitive emulsions from structural degradation.
• Modular Air Valve System: Stall-free, non-icing pneumatic valve design minimizes compressed air consumption and maintenance downtime.
Typical Handled Media & Target Industries
• Handled Media: Hydrochloric Acid (HCl), Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4), Nitric Acid (HNO3), Sodium Hypochlorite (Bleach), Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda), Polymer Solutions, Coagulants, Flocculants, Deionized Water, Wastewater Sludge, and Solvents.
• Target Industries: Chemical Processing & Distribution, Water & Wastewater Treatment, Electroplating & Surface Treatment, Pulp & Paper Manufacturing, and Electronics & Semiconductor Manufacturing.

Material Selection Matrix
• Polypropylene (PP): General-purpose chemical resistance; cost-effective for acids, caustics, and salt solutions up to 70C (158F).
• PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride): High chemical resistance and mechanical strength; suitable for aggressive strong acids, halogens, and higher temperatures up to 100C (212F).
• PTFE (Teflon) Diaphragms: Universal chemical compatibility; zero leaching; ideal for high-purity applications and aggressive solvents. Backed by an integral Santoprene backup layer for flex life.

Case Study A (Chemical Distribution - Germany): A regional chemical distributor replaced legacy metallic pumps with our PDP-40 PVDF/PTFE units for offloading 35% hydrochloric acid. Result: Zero leakage incidents reported over 3 years of continuous operation, drastically lowering routine maintenance costs.
Case Study B (Wastewater Treatment - Singapore): An electronics manufacturing plant utilized PDP-25 PP pumps for handling corrosive wastewater slurries containing micro-solids. Result: The built-in dry-run and dead-head protection prevented pump burnout during unexpected line blockages.
Recommended Operating Practices
• Suction Lift Configuration: Ensure suction piping is equal to or greater than the pump port diameter to prevent flow starvation and cavitation. Flooded suction is recommended for high-viscosity fluids (> 5,000 cps).
• Air Supply Regulation: Install a filter-regulator-lubricator (FRL) unit on the air line. Use clean, dry compressed air (lubrication-free air is preferred for air valve longevity).
• Discharge Dampening: For long pipe runs or pulse-sensitive meters, install a pulsation dampener on the discharge port to reduce hydraulic shock by up to 90%.
Operational Limitations to Avoid
• Do not exceed the maximum allowable air working pressure of 8.6 bar (125 psi).
• Avoid running pumps with abrasive slurries containing particle sizes exceeding the maximum solid rating for the specific model.
• Verify chemical temperature limits against the selected plastic housing material (PP vs. PVDF).
