HONO Pump Engineering Team has extensive experience in industrial pump applications and maintenance. The team focuses on pump operation optimization, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and customized fluid transfer solutions.

During slurry pump conveying operations, issues such as no liquid output upon startup, seal leakage, and flow rate failing to meet working-condition requirements may easily occur. Based on real-world working conditions, our company has summarized troubleshooting solutions for users'reference.

Common Fault Diagnosis and Resolution

Fault Phenomenon

Possible Causes

Treatment Methods

No liquid discharge after pump startup

1. Air trapped inside pump or air leakage on suction pipeline;

2. Suction pipeline blockage;

3. Impeller damaged or seized;

4. Wrong motor rotation direction

1. Vent air from pump and pipelines, fasten pipeline connecting bolts;

2. Clear impurities in suction pipeline and filter;

3. Inspect impeller, repair or replace damaged parts;

4. Adjust motor rotation direction

Insufficient pump flow rate

1. Severe impeller wear;

2. Suction pipeline blockage or excessive resistance;

3. Serious seal leakage;

4. Insufficient rotational speed

1. Replace worn impeller;

2. Clean suction pipeline and reduce pipeline resistance;

3. Replace sealing parts and adjust seal tightness;

4. Check motor rotational speed, troubleshoot power supply and transmission system

Excessive pump vibration and abnormal noise

1. Worn or damaged bearing;

2. Misaligned or loose coupling;

3. Unbalanced or damaged impeller;

4. Improper pipeline support

1. Replace damaged bearing;

2. Adjust coupling coaxiality and fasten bolts;

3. Repair or replace impeller and perform dynamic balance correction;

4. Reinforce pipeline supports to prevent vibration transmission

Severe leakage at sealing position

1. Worn or aged sealing parts;

2. Improper packing tightness;

3. Impurities or damage on sealing face;

4. Shaft wear

1. Replace sealing parts;

2. Adjust packing tightness;

3. Clean sealing face and repair damaged areas;

4. Repair or replace worn shaft

Excessively high bearing temperature

1. Poor lubrication or deteriorated lubricating oil;

2. Severe bearing wear;

3. Improper bearing installation;

4. Equipment overload operation

1. Replace lubricating oil and replenish lubricant;

2. Replace damaged bearing;

3. Reinstall bearing to ensure proper seating;

4. Adjust operating parameters to avoid overload operation

Safety Precautions

1.Before equipment maintenance and overhaul, cut off the power supply, close the inlet and outlet valves, release pressure inside pipelines, and hang up a "Do Not Switch On" sign. Live and pressurized operations are strictly prohibited.

2.Full personal protective equipment must be worn when handling corrosive media. In case of accidental contact with media, rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical attention if necessary.

3.Dismantle the equipment in sequence and mark components to prevent loss or damage. Reassemble in reverse order during installation to ensure all components are properly fitted without looseness or gaps. For fluoroplastic parts, avoid excessive force during disassembly to prevent fragmentation; apply even force during installation to avoid local extrusion-induced deformation.

4.Waste components, used lubricating oil and residual media generated during maintenance shall be disposed of by category in accordance with environmental-protection requirements. Random discarding is strictly prohibited to prevent environmental pollution.

5.Calibrate maintenance tools and testing instruments regularly to guarantee good performance of tools and instruments as well as accurate test results.

The above covers reference solutions for common slurry pump faults as well as safety precautions for operation.

Always strictly comply with safety operation specifications during equipment maintenance. Do not disassemble the pump blindly when confronted with complex faults that cannot be resolved on your own.
